ROVERS have looked across the Channel to Super League club Les Catalans to strengthen their squad.
So now they will have a second French player in the squad in addition to injured centre Damien Couturier.
Prop Sebastien Martins is flying in to Hull tomorrow to join the Robins on a month’s loan.
Said chief executive Paul Lakin : “The signing of Sebastien is mutually beneficial to both clubs. He is a player Justin Morgan knows and is looking forward to working with while at the same time Les Catalans were keen for the player to get some first team game time.
“The front-row was an area which we felt needed strengthening in the short-term and we are also looking to introduce a utility-type player but that will not happen in the near future,
“It has been previously documented that we have structured our player finances regarding the salary cap so as to enable us to bring in a couple of players later on in the season if we so wish.
“However, as in all seasons, situations evolve of periods of time and with the departure from Craven Park of Jimmy Walker and Paul Parker and with Desi Williams out on loan, we have obviously freed up additional monies.”
Martins is 21 years old and although listed as a prop he has also played second-row and centre during his career to date.
He is 1m 89cms (6ft 3ins) tall and weighs 115kg (18st 7lbs).
And Sebastien lists Aussie legend Mal Meninga as his rugby idol.
